The function of light is to provide energy to every living thing on earth, all lives depend on it. In any dis-ease, we must also correct the light environment. Light cycles hormones through our skin and photoreceptors in the retina, like Vit D, serotonin, dopamine, melatonin, cortisol, etc.. Light is a nutrient, it carries signals and information for all physiological processes in the body.
What do we need to remove or add to improve performance and maximize wellness;
Things to Add:
-15 min. sun per day to get your MED (minimal erythemic dose), if you are planning to be in the sun for extended amounts of time, cover up or use,
-zinc oxide only for sunscreen
-Best time of day for sun exposure, 10am-2pm
-Expose all parts of the body to the sun if possible
-Optimal Vit D level, 50-70ng/ml
-Open blind or drapes for natural sunlight in the home
-Use incandescent or halogen bulbs only
-Set computer and phone to ambient light conditions, easier on eyes and brain
Things to Remove:
-Remove all CFl and LED bulbs, causes stress on nervous system
-Avoid use of cell phones, computers,TV 2 hours before going to bed.
-Do not use sunglasses unless you are going to be in very bright sun for extended amounts of time.
-Do not get your prescription glasses coated with antiglare, as this blocks the natural UV that retina and brain need.
-Make your bedroom as dark as possible, cover all clocks, wall fire alarm lights, you want a cold, dark, quiet, EMF free room!
